Learn about the main goals
First, it is important to become aware of any psychological factors that have been obstacles to achieving a healthy weight loss goal.
For example, the presence of a mood disorder like depression, stress eating in response to various triggers like work or relationship stress, and even unknown triggers like boredom or social overindulgence, are all factors that will continue to exist post-surgery.
Bringing these factors into awareness is crucial so you can work toward overcoming these obstacles to help increase your chances of success.
Second, bariatric surgery requires intensive post-operative behavioral changes to not only achieve optimal weight loss, but also to maintain physical health. For this reason, one’s mental state must be stable and prepared to adapt to a massive lifestyle transformation.
Psychological evaluation assess both of these factors and is intended to help you achieve your weight loss goals.
The Bariatric Evaluation takes approximately two hours and we provide expedient report writing.
Reports are typically provided to your physician with 48-72 hours.
