Ashley Cooper, M.S., Ph.D.

Dr. Ashley Cooper Leonhart is a Florida licensed mental health counselor. She has vast experience working with young children and their families, offering support and counseling for a variety of presenting problems, such as anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and trauma. Throughout her years as a clinician, Ashley has worked in a variety of settings including private practice, substance abuse recovery, and community mental health. Ashley is deeply passionate about treating women of all ages, working to assist in empowering her clients using Feminist Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She also has extensive experience working with trauma and utilizes Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and is EMDR trained.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio Ashley moved to Coral Gables, Florida to attend the University of Miami where she received her bachelor’s degree. She later returned to school to achieve her Master of Science in Applied Psychology from Lynn University, where she currently works as their Practicum and Internship Coordinator, assisting counselors in training receive clinical experience. Ashley completed her Ph.D. in Counseling at Florida Atlantic University; her doctoral degree is pending commencement. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor for FAU as well as Lynn University teaching Developmental Psychology and Forensic Psychology amongst other courses.

Outside of the office, she is a published author and works to continue adding to the field of Counseling through research and publishing. Ashley loves spending time with her husband and daughter, as well as their two dogs. She is thrilled to “finally have a hobby” and enjoys making scented candles with her daughter in their kitchen as well as home-made tea blends.
